Possession
of Drugs
It
is an offence to possess a broad array of drugs, such as marijuana,
heroin, cocaine and methamphetamines. While possession of “hard
drugs” may result in a jail sentence, it should be noted that any
conviction for a drug offence, even possession of a small amount
of marijuana, usually results in the offender being permanently
banned from entry into the United States.
Before
any decision is made on how to approach a case of this type, it
is important to carefully scrutinize the case against you. This
typically involves consideration of your right to be free from arbitrary
detention and your right to be free from unreasonable search and
seizure.
Determination
of appropriate defences and approached will depend of legal advice
specific to your case.
